Oregon Coast Vacation!

In August we took a vacation to the Oregon Coast with Zack and Nicole. We stayed at their uncle's beach house for the week and had so much fun!
We really missed seeing the ocean, even if this ocean was freezing cold!

Papa Frank and Grandma Helen even came to stay with us for a couple of days while they drove up and down the coastline.
The girls loved spending time with their grandparents.
We came to see the Pacific Ocean, but spent most of our time in "The World's Shortest River."
It was a lot warmer than the ocean water was.

This is what happens when you tell a certain little girl to not get her clothes wet....
Bostyn loved meeting Papa Frank, and was so fascinated by his beard.
Even if the weather and water were complete opposites of Florida, Brooklyn still had a blast playing at the beach!
Bostyn loved being with Aunt Nicole too.
The second day we were at the Coast we took a trip to see the Sea Lion Caves.
The view from the caves was gorgeous!

It wasn't the right season for the sea lions to be inside the cave, but we got to see them from the lookout point.
Brooklyn loved watching them and listening the the crazy noises they were making!
Imagine a lot of loud burping and gurgling sounds and that is what the sea lions sounded like.
 Love these guys!
And of course we had to get a family picture at the lookout.
We had to snap one last picture with Papa Frank and Grandma Helen before we went our separate ways.
Bostyn loved being outside in the sunshine.
Brooklyn picks flowers wherever we go, but look at the sign behind her...
The girls loved spending time with their grandparents! We had so much fun with them on this trip and were so glad they came to see us!
These guys all had to pose on the statues before we left!
After the caves we went and got Salt Water Taffy and took the girls to a park by the lake. Both girls love going to the park!
 Bostyn especially loves swinging.
They loved swinging on the tire with Dad!
Brooklyn loved looking at this big dragon sculpture,

and then she helped Uncle Zack roll down the hill.
The park is in such a great spot overlooking the lake.
After playing we rushed back to the beach so we could catch the sunset. In Florida you only get to see the sunrise over the ocean, so I was really excited to be able to see the sunset again!
 Love my girlies!
A nice lady saw us taking pictures and offered to take a picture for us.
Brooklyn is a pretty good photographer and snapped this great picture!

Our last day at the Coast we decided to drive to Tillamook to visit the cheese factory there.

Brooklyn was so excited to take this picture!

It was fun to read all of the signs and to see the workers down below.
We even got to sample the cheese, which is always a bonus.
Brooklyn was so excited to sit in the Tillamook bus, she didn't want to get out of it!

Before leaving the factory we all got ice cream cones. Bostyn is an ice cream fanatic! She loved get licks off of everyone's cones!
It was seriously some of the best ice cream I have ever had!
I think it was everyone's favorite part of the tour...

And the perfect way to end a super fun week? Soaking in the hot tub of course!
It was such a fun vacation and helped ease our longing for the beaches in Florida!

Going on a camping trip....

Once Greg finished the Bar Exam, we headed off to the mountains for a campout with our friends Ben and Arianna and their little boy Skylar.
It was the girl's first time camping and Brooklyn was sooo excited about everything! When we first got there we had a small rain storm and after a few minutes it was sunny and we were good to go.

Brooklyn LOVES Ben and just had to steal his hat to wear around camp.
 Ben, Arianna, and Skylar
After dinner we took a walk to see the lake,
and then the kiddos decided to take a quick dip!
Even though she couldn't get in too, Bostyn loved being by the water.
After the kids all went to bed we stayed up so late talking and laughing around the campfire. Anyone that knows Ben and Arianna, know that they have the best stories and can keep you entertained for hours!
The next morning, Greg took charge of making breakfast.
We were all starving and luckily Greg can whip up a great campfire breakfast.
After we cleaned up camp, we headed back to shoot some guns! Brooklyn was so excited to be able to shoot a real gun and had so much fun with Ben and Arianna.
I didn't get any pictures of the girls in our tent while we were in the mountains. But a few days later, Greg and Brooklyn had another campout in the backyard so we brought Bostyn out and snapped a few pictures of them before they went to bed.

Being back in Oregon has been a lot of fun and we loved our first family campout.  We had a great time with our friends being here in Baker with us this summer! We loved hanging out with them and were so sad they had to head back to Florida

4th of July

I love summertime, especially when we get to celebrate the 4th of July!
Every year Greg's family has a special breakfast outside.

Then we all headed to Haines for the 4th of July Parade. Brooklyn loves running after the candy.
Bostyn was pretty content hanging out in the stroller though.
We even had cool 4th of July toes!

Pattie is one of our best family friends. She adores the girls and snatches up Bostyn any chance she gets!

After the parade, Brooklyn got her face painted.
She just had to have a pink and purple butterfly, it was so cute!

Grandma and Bostyn after the parade.
We snapped a few pictures of the girlies after the parade-These two are Bff's.
 Love this!
We took Brooklyn and Bostyn to their first rodeo! We all loved the bull riding the best.
Someone even caught a few Zzzzzs.
It was so sunny and hot, Brooklyn just had to have an ice cream cone!

Look at those little chubby cheeks!!
It was so hot that by the end of the rodeo she had sweated off most of her butterfly.

Our attempt at a family picture after the rodeo.
Later that night we had a few friends over for dinner and fireworks.
Our friends from Florida the Hostetters were in Baker for an internship. Poor little Skylar was so scared of the fireworks, he wouldn't uncover his face at all.
McKenzie on the other hand, loved them!
My favorite part of the celebrations, of course, are the fireworks!

I even had a chance to sport my light up flag hat!
Michelle made this awesome cake. She wouldn't tell us what kind it was or anything, we just had to wait and see what was inside.
 Brooklyn was pretty excited!
 Time to unveil the cake!
We all thought it was so awesome! No wonder she kept it a surprise!
After we finished doing all of our stuff at the house, we geared up and headed back to Haines to watch their firework show. Brooklyn was so excited to go watch them!

We are definitely proud to be Americans and love celebrating this great holiday!
