Our life in January

We kicked off the New Year by having a few of our friends over for a dinner and game night.
The kids had a blast playing and dressing up.
Bostyn was in heaven having Lucy to play with. They always give each other big hugs when they play.
The Gray family
The Arbon family
We also had a White Elephant gift exchange, and this is what we came up with-Super padded bunny slippers!

Happy New Year woo hoo!
Bostyn is following in her sister's footsteps and loves to play in the cupboards.
This is a picture of Brooklyn close to the same age, playing in the cupboard too.
We have been trying to stay busy inside doing fun craft projects.
Meet Mrs. Snowman. Brooklyn loves to do crafts and loves to cut and glue.
This is also a favorite past time...make your baby sister push you around the house on her toy.
But at least she returns the favor.
We also made some goopy slime stuff. Brooklyn loved letting it run through her fingers.

Bostyn still only has 4 teeth! I love the huge gap though!
Back to the pots and pans of course.
I love how cute they look on Sunday mornings.

It has been SUPER cold here in January so we decided to bring one of our Pinterest ideas to life.
We filled up balloons with colored water and set them outside to freeze for a few days.
Our finished product! Brooklyn loved her ice marbles.
They turned out pretty cool! It will definitely be something we make every winter.

We only live a few miles from the lake, so we decided to drive up and see how frozen it was.
Needless to say it was frozen solid, so we ventured out a few feet to slide around.
 It was sooo cold.

She loved skating around the edges.

This guy was much more brave than we were. He went zipping out into the middle of the lake and skated around. We thought he was nuts.
Our old camera broke, so we finally got a new fancier one! Brooklyn loved letting me practice taking her pictures.

She kept telling me to take pictures of her dancing..
Cute little Bostyn.  Thanks to a super fast shutter speed, I finally can get a picture of her before she runs away!

More dancing, except this time she was Wendy from Peter Pan

The sled dog races were coming through our area, and we were able to go see the mushers and their dogs during their vet checks.

She loved petting the dogs...That is until this dog stole her glove and she totally freaked out.
After a few minutes she got her courage up to try again. She loves animals so much!
 Meanwhile Bostyn just quietly observed,
 and looked cute doing it.

They both are pretty darn cute!
Bostyn has totally developed her personality. She is always doing something funny, or making some silly face.
These two really are best friends. They will just sit and look at each other and laugh. I hope they always stay this way growing up.
Speaking of growing up, this girl is super duper smart and is obsessed with writing her name. She will write her name on any paper she finds laying around. Most of our doors currently have post it notes stuck to them with her name on them too. It's pretty cute, and I love that she loves to learn!

Bostyn's First Birthday!!!

Bostyn turned 1 on December 29th! This year went by way too fast, we still can't believe how big she is getting.
Last ride in the baby car seat
Since we were waiting to celebrate her birthday party with family in Baker we had a small celebration at home on her actual birthday. Including a fun breakfast of pink chocolate chip pancakes.
Brooklyn was so excited to celebrate, she loves it when anyone has a birthday.

Brooklyn was tired of posing for pictures, Bostyn on the other hand loves it.
Brooklyn gave her a special birthday crown for her to wear, and of course to share.
She loved ripping open all of her birthday cards.

She especially loved finding the money inside, and carried it around with her.
After lunch we headed to an ice cream shop for a birthday treat. This was her first time riding in a big girl car seat.
They both thought it was pretty fun!
Waiting to order-this is the cutest ice cream parlor, all decorated like the 50's.
Bostyn loves, loves, loves ice cream.

Brooklyn got just what she wanted...a baby cone with sprinkles.
Then she shared our brownie sundae too. Delicious!
Momma and the birthday girl!
Then we went home and opened a few presents!

A couple of days later she got more presents in the mail.
A new hat from Great Grandma Wolfley,
and cute clothes from Grandma and Grandpa Merritt.
Brooklyn is my little baker. She loved making green and pink swirled cupcakes for the birthday party.
When we got to Baker, Bostyn got to open up even more presents!

Grandma and Papa Baxter gave her this fun tunnel and some other cute toys.
As tradition would have it, we all went to El Erradero for Bostyn's birthday dinner. She LOVES rice and beans!
I found a tutorial online on how to make a pinata out of a diaper box- I loved how it turned out.
Brooklyn was the first one to get a swing at it.
Bostyn wasn't a huge fan...
I think almost everyone took a turn whacking it, even Grandma!
Brooklyn decided that Bostyn needed to have a Minnie Mouse party, so Minnie it was.
I made Bostyn her own giant cupcake to dig in to.
 Singing Happy Birthday!
I love how excited Brooklyn  was to celebrate-love these guys.
Bostyn definitely didn't "dig-in" She was very cautious and careful when it came to this big cupcake....
 Brooklyn of course loved it!
I can't believe my baby is one already!
This was the extent of her cake eating...she barely touched the frosting. Bostyn definitely doesn't like to get her hands dirty.

Even though she didn't eat much, she still looked cute sitting there and smiling!

Love this cute little girl.
