Chief Joseph Days is a pretty big deal around here. It starts the last week of July and there is something going on every day of the week!
We decided to walk over to see what the "Wild Horse Stampede" was all about.
The girls were pretty excited to see the horses and talk to all of the people on the streets.
While we were waiting we met a nice couple that let the girls play with their dogs.
Finally the horses made their way down the street. It wasn't much of a stampede, but it was cool to see all of the wild horses that they use for the bronc riding in the rodeos.
The girls loved seeing all of the horses.
Grandma, Papa, Courtney, Sam, and V came into town to enjoy the festivities. While were were waiting for the kid's parade to start we looked around some of the cute shops.
We had to get pictures with Bigfoot!
Love this.
Bostyn on the other hand, was legitimately scared of him.
Finally the parade started, and she couldn't wait to eat her sucker.
Waving and ready to grab the candy.
Smokey Bear passed out fun bracelets and stickers.
These were a couple of my favorite entries.
Brooklyn of course, loved this one.
After the parade we hit the lake to cool off.
Bostyn isn't a fan of cooler water, but she loves to float around the lake.
Papa posing for a pic.
The next day was the Grand Parade. The DA's office had a golf cart in the parade again and Brooklyn was so excited to be able to help throw candy again. She even dressed up for the occasion.
I think I'm biased but I think they are sooo cute!
Getting ready for the parade.
Aunt V and Bostyn waiting for the parade to finally start.
I loved all of the Indians in the parade.
The One Armed Bandit. He started off the parade on top of his horse trailer, and then ran down onto the street. Too bad I missed a picture of that!
Here comes the DA's office!
Brooklyn loved throwing candy! Bostyn tried to run after them once she saw them, and got pretty upset when we wouldn't let her go.
Waving at all of the people.
Later that day, we went to watch the Traditional Indian Dance competition.
It was so neat to see all of their traditional clothing and dances.
Towards the end, they did a group dance. Brooklyn was so excited to run out and join in.
She loved it!
Saturday night we all went to the rodeo.
I love this picture!
Gotta have your sunglasses on.
We all loved every event at the rodeo, but the bucking ones are always my favorite.
I think the entertainment part of the rodeo was everyone's favorite. The One Armed Bandit is a 12 time rodeo entertainer of a year, and his show was amazing.
Riding his mule onto the top of his trailer.
He has trained the buffalo to climb on top as well, it was so amazing!
It was seriously one of the coolest things I have ever watched.
By the end of the night, the lighting was pretty bad, but I got a few shots of the bull riding.
This clown kept the crowd laughing all night long.
By the end of the night, the girls were exhausted, but we loved it!
Sam and V
Court, Grandma, Bostyn and Papa.
She looked so cute, but she was sooo tired.
Bostyn finally perked up a little bit as we were walking out. She sure loves her Papa.
It was such a fun, busy week. The population of our town pretty much tripled and there were always people everywhere. I loved it though, and can't wait for it again next summer!
